Spreadsheet Pixel Art — Number Grids, TSV and Color Legends

Choose a pattern, preview numbered cells and copy a TSV matrix. Download CSV and a matching color legend with counts and attribution, then follow separate Excel and Google Sheets formatting steps.

Spreadsheet color-by-number grid

0 means transparent or empty, never white. Numbers 1–64 refer to source palette positions, not manufacturer bead codes. X increases rightward and Y downward from the top left.

CSV and TSV contain values only, not fills, formulas or an XLSX workbook. Keep the matrix and its matching legend together. If pasting produces one column, import the TSV with a Tab separator.

Excel and Google Sheets instructions

Excel

  1. Paste matrix TSV into A1 of a blank sheet. Import CSV through Data → From Text/CSV, using UTF-8 and a comma separator.
  2. Select columns B:Q and rows 2:17. Set row height to 15 pt, then drag column boundaries until width matches height. Excel column width is font-dependent, not pixels.
  3. Select B2:Q17. Home → Conditional Formatting → Highlight Cells Rules → Equal To. Add each nonzero legend number with its HEX fill. Leave 0 unfilled.
  4. Paste the legend into another sheet at A1. Check dimensions and counts, then save as .xlsx to retain manual formatting.

Official instructions

Google Sheets

  1. Paste matrix TSV into A1. Alternatively use File → Import, select CSV and a comma separator, or TSV and a Tab separator.
  2. Select columns B:Q, right-click → Resize columns → 24 pixels. Set rows 2:17 to 24 pixels too.
  3. Select B2:Q17. Format → Conditional formatting → Is equal to. Add each nonzero legend number and its HEX fill. Leave 0 unfilled.
  4. Paste the legend into another sheet at A1. Check dimensions and counts. Keep the document in Google Sheets to retain formatting.
