Prepare a stable surface
Use the recommended ironing paper for your bead system, a flat heat-safe surface, and a tool that can move continuously. The objective is even heat, not maximum heat. Secure loose or tilted beads before the paper goes down so the first pass does not turn a small alignment issue into a permanent one.
Keep the pattern chart visible but away from the hot tool. A quick photo of the un-melted board gives you a reference if a pale color becomes hard to distinguish under the paper.
Move in short, overlapping passes
Start over the broadest stable area and keep the iron moving in small circles or overlapping strokes. Check the edge, corners, and narrow bridges before spending more heat on the center. If a section needs another pass, let it cool enough to inspect instead of guessing through the paper.
On the strawberry, the green cap has fewer support points than the red body. A brief edge pass anchors its outline; a long stationary pass would flatten the cap while the body is still under-heated.
Let the piece cool under gentle pressure
Cooling is part of the finish. Leave the piece flat and use a clean, even weight if your material tends to curl. Do not pull at the paper while the plastic is soft. Once cool, inspect holes, corners, and the balance between both sides before deciding whether a second pass is necessary.
A build chart tells you where the beads go; it cannot decide when your particular iron and material have fused. Treat temperature and time as variables you observe, and follow the bead manufacturer's safety guidance.
